Steam Deck is even more perfect now. I hope the next one has a significant performance bump in the same package .

I’m glad Valve took the battery life feedback to heart. While this battery life upgrade isn’t quite to the level where I am comfortable yet, this is a step in the right direction; a battery life upgrade without putting in more battery life guzzling features. This is a very good upgrade.

The OLED was 50 dollars more on release. Still is. You can buy the OG still for its launch price of 299.

There also was a silent revision you might be referring to? It had better battery and stuff, but it wasn’t really advertised.

I’m so fucking livid I hate capitalism and fucking planed obsolescence. I bought my deck just about a month ago because I was reassured by the community and everybody else that we wouldn’t see a refresh or new version for quite a while. I’m selling mine and never looking back.

Mmm ordered yesterday the 64gb to upgrade to 1 tb. Feel like I should just return it as soon as it arrives and just go for the OLED 1tb (mainly the extra battery life and quieter fans)

Just refuse the delivery then you won’t have to go trough the hassle of returning it

In their policies they seem to state that you cannot just send things back without discussing it with them.

As shared in another comment Support said that to get the refund on my original payment method I need to accept delivery and then just ship it back.

It does seem a waste of travel/time but probably easier to go with the establish method

At very least, you should get the $50 credit cause the model you bought just went down in price.

That being said, adding your own 1tb nvme will run you around $110. So you be paying at least an extra $150 for the screen and battery. May be worth it, but that’s up to you

I agree that the new option will be $150 additional compared to the upgrading the SSD myself. I would just add to the list of benefits you had (screen/battery) also the fact of not having to actually do the upgrade (which is quick and will go well but still…)

-–Coping the comment I made elsewhere–

I have received a reply from Steam Support and they have offered:

        1. once received to return it (they will provide the information) - this will allow a full refund on my original payment method. I can then buy the new deck when it comes out
        2. get a refund to my steam wallet and repurchase the 64gb with that refund at the new lower price. The difference will remain in my steam wallet for future purchases, but I do not have to send the deck back
It all seems fairly reasonable, you could argue that even in case of 2 it would be great to have the refund applied to my original payment method but I will end up buying some games so it’s probably fair to use the wallet option.
          Though I suspect I’ll go with 1

At time of 1.0 release : was basically a ~$700.00 pc system at ~$300.00 in handheld form.

Seems to be a marginal upgrade if you’re really interested.

Well it did release in the middle of the pandemic lol. In any normal situation it was bascially a £450 pc with a really shitty gpu

Damnit. I’ve been waiting for the steam deck v2 for a while now but I didn’t know it was gonna be now! Gonna have to sell something to fit it in the budget

I never got the point of a handheld, portable gaming thingie. No disrespect to anyone using one, by all means, but I spent a butload of money on my PC, I’d be pegged before I spend another 500 dollars/euro on a smaller alternative.

God I love it so much that their new 6nm APU is called Sephiroth and will replace the old 7nm one that’s called Aerith.

My steamdeck must be defective or something. I Constantly have software bugs with it. Whether the onscreen keyboard never shows up anymore, never stops verifying install, games not recognizing keyboard and mouse, and so much more. I’ve spent more time trouble shooting than actually enjoying it.

You can wipe and reinstall SteamOS can’t you? It’s kind of like what happens with Windows for many people after a couple years: Needs a wipe to refresh it

I’m sure I could yes. Seems like a bad option, I’ve probably only put 60hours into my steamdeck so it seems a little ridiculous tbh.

I had similar issues with mine and RMA’d it for a new deck which had no issues. This was a solid 6 months after purchasing too so it might be worth contacting their support.
